Spectacle

My favourite word; because art and the popular media would not exist without it. If there were no boundary pushers or out-of-the-box thinkers, there would be none of the excitement this media based culture is fuelled by.

There would be no great pyramids, no 4th of July fireworks, nor even 3D animated movies. Our favourite Mp3 player’s name would not be so iconic. Lady Gaga would be out of a career.

No singular word in my vocabulary better defines the world I live in.

Blind

Does anybody really even see anymore? I feel like I’ve been walking around in a city where almost everyone’s eyes are half closed… Just walking around blindly in the paths they have been travelling since they were kids.

Our lives have been about walking around in the dark, in our middle class homes, trying not to bump into the familiar furniture. Sometimes you bump (or slam) into things out of place or forgotten and it forces you to (re)discover it. Then and only then are you truly paying attention…

I want to turn on the lights…
